Categories

There are three competition categories: Assigned Subject, Open Subject, and Altered Reality.
Altered Reality is intended to encourage experimental or non-traditional work. The image may be whatever the maker wants it to be.

There are three competition classes: Salon, Class A, and Class B. Assignment of participating members is based on ability and is determined solely by the Standards Committee.

Each entrant may submit two images in the Assigned Subject and Open categories and one image in the Altered Reality category.  Note that the number of images now applies to the combined slide and digital competitions – now known as the projected image competition.

The closing date for entries will be 7 days prior to the Monday of the digital competition.

Images

Prepare up to five images, two in the Assigned Subject and Open categories and one in the Altered Reality category.

The constraints of digital projection mean that we don't need, indeed we can't cope with, high resolution images. Make your images look good on your computer screen as they will be shown using a digital projector driven by a computer.

Image Size:
Image width and height must each be 768 pixels or less.  The maximum image size is 768x768.  Any images exceeding this resolution will be excluded from the competition.

Each image must be sent in the form of a JPEG (.jpg) file of not more than 500 Kbytes.
You can title them as you wish. The competition software picks up the titles from the form you submit. The titles are not shown to the judges until the scoring is done.

File Naming

It is not necessary to name your image files according to any naming standard as in the past. You may name your files any way that makes sense to you.

However, be aware that the copies of your files uploaded to the web server will be renamed automatically when they are received to match the requirements of the software used for the competition. Since the renamed file will contain your last name and first initial, this part must be unique. If necessary, chose a letter that will distinguish between others and use it as the first character in the First Name field in the entry form. We cannot deal with two family names with the same first initial, so please coordinate this with others with the same family name.

The Entry Form

Fill in the following entry form with the requested personal information and image titles. All fields marked with an asterisk * are required.

Click on the "Browse" button ("Choose" on some browsers) to select the files. The image files will automatically be sent along with the form information when you click the Submit button. You don't have to submit all five allowed entries.

File upload time will depend on your internet connection speed – please be patient.
When the upload is complete, you will be redirected to a page that confirms your entry.

If you leave this page before the upload is complete, the process will stop. Time for 5 images may range from 1 minute by high speed connection to 12 minutes by dialup modem.

The software used for the competition is Digital Salon Software by Muskovac Enterprises.
