The Delaware Photographic Society in collaboration with the Mayor's Office of Cultural Affairs, First Night Wilmington recently completed Wilmington-IN-Focus. WIF is a photography project for Wilmington area students.

Over 200 students representing more than a dozen schools and organizations participated in the WIF instructional program and competition. Students' ages ranged from six to 18. For judging, students were divided into four age groups. Student photographers from the three youngest groups (up to age 14) were sponsored by a City youth organization or school and received a single use film camera to take photos. A member of the Delaware Photographic Society provided instruction to these students, reviewed their photos and helped them select two entries for the competition. High school students 14 and above used their own cameras and did not receive instruction.

Judging was done by judges chosen by the Delaware Photographic Society. Entries were judged on originality, technical excellence, composition, overall impact, and artistic merit.

Corporate support for this project was provided by JP Morgan Chase and AstraZeneca. Cameras, Etc. provided film developing and assistance with prize selection.

Awards were presented to winning students by Mayor James M. Baker and Kate Banaszak Miss Delaware 2009 at First Night Wilmington. The winning students for each age group are listed below.
