DPS-Exchange Group
Instructions and Information
Overview
DPS-Exchange is a group mailing list hosted
by Yahoo! Groups. It provides an informal
means for DPS members to rapidly communicate with all other members about a
common interest. Subscribers may:
- ask questions about
photographic equipment and techniques,
- respond to inquiries,
- post notices of
photographic exhibits,
- announce photo-ops,
- share photographic
news,
- upload your
photos,
- and much, much more.
There is a wealth of experience and
expertise held by DPS members and this forum provides a very efficient means of
quickly sharing information with more members than ever before.
You must subscribe to DPS-Exchange before
you can send or receive messages.
Subscribing/Unsubscribing
to DPS-Exchange
Membership in DPS-Exchange is restricted to
DPS members. List moderators will verify DPS membership with each
subscription request. To expedite the process, please identify yourself
by name when subscribing, especially if the e-mail address being used for
DPS-Exchange is different than the one that the DPS has on file.
Your subscription to DPS-Exchange
lasts as long as your membership to the DPS. Should you decide to
leave the DPS, your DPS-Exchange membership also end.
There are two main ways to join
DPS-Exchange. One requires a Yahoo ID, and the other does not. Yahoo ID requires establishing a screen
name and a password. While it is
faster to sign up without a Yahoo ID the benefit of subscribing with one is that
you will have a selection of one of the following options:
- Individual emails –
Receive all individual messages.
- Daily digest - Receive
a daily compilation of many emails in one message.
- Special notices -
Receive only important email notices from the group moderator.
- No e-mail - Read
messages only while visiting the Web site.
Subscribing without a Yahoo ID
- Send an e-mail to DPS-Exchange-subscribe@yahoogroups.com.
The subject and context of the message don't matter - anything (or nothing at
all) is fine.
- Yahoo will reply with a
confirmation e-mail. Reply to the message as the message requests. Your
request will be sent to the list administrators and you will receive a welcome
e-mail as soon as your membership is approved.
Subscribing
with a Yahoo ID
- Visit http://groups.yahoo.com/. Sign in with
your existing Yahoo ID if you already have one from another group, or
click on the Sign Up link and register for a Yahoo ID following the
instructions.
- In the Find a
Group box, enter “DPS-Exchange” and click on
Search.
- Find
DPS-Exchange in the list of groups and click on the link.
- Follow the links for
joining the group.
- Your request will be
sent to the list administrators and you will receive a welcome e-mail as soon as
your membership is approved.
Unsubscribing DPS-Exchange
Using
DPS-Exchange
- To send a message to the group, send an e-mail to
DPS-Exchange@yahoogroups.com.
The message will automatically be sent to all members.
- Do not include attachments, as they will be removed
from messages before they are sent out. This is done to keep the
messages smaller (and more dial-up compatible) and inhibit the distribution of
viruses.
Subscriber
Etiquette
The moderators reserve the right to suspend
or terminate the membership of anyone whose behavior is considered to be
unacceptable. Please read and practice the following etiquette guidelines.
- Keep replies on-topic
and concise. All communications will be monitored by a group of moderators who
will stop any discussions that go too far off-topic.
- Be polite, patient and
courteous in all communications. Remember that all subscribers can read your
messages.
- Understand that much of
the information will be based on opinions. There can be no guarantee that the
information you receive on DPS-Exchange will be factual, accurate, or spelled
correctly.
- Do not abuse the
privilege of access to other members’ inboxes.
