SUBMITTING IMAGES FOR DISPLAY
ON THE DPS WEBSITE

Mark Reed, Webmaster

The Member Gallery is a valuable members-only section and is your special place to display some of your favorite images on the internet. Please send images by email.

OUTPUT RESOLUTION
Remember, we are concerned about images on a website - which is consdered "low resolution". Computer monitors can only display within 70 to 90 points per inch (ppi). You need to set your scanner software to an output resolution of 72 to 150 ppi. Higher resolutions are for high-end printing applications. Your software may also describe the lower resolution output as "Output for the Web" or "Output to the Internet" or "Output to computer monitor."

ACTUAL IMAGE SIZE
Actual image size is measured in pixels. The longest side of the image should be no more than 325 pixels. This may seem small to those of you who have the luxury of using larger monitors (and/or higher resolutions, but it is my duty, as the website administrator, to ensure that all our world-wide viewers can easily peruse the images without being limited due to their equipment or transmission speeds. The site is designed with a philosophy of "universal access" and so, we limit our resources accordingly by using a "least-common-denominator" approach!

FILE FORMAT
Images must saved be in JPEG format with the extension of JPG (Do not submit .GIF or .TIFF) FILE SIZE The image file size in Kbytes should be NO MORE THAN 32K. Shoot for an average of 20K by adjusting your software output parameters. When outputting to .JPG files, the software will allow you to adjust the "compression factor." Adjust it accordingly to approach the ideal 20K.

Currently, we are limiting the number of images each person can post to ten images. However, you are free to periodically change the images by submitting new ones to me. If you want particular images replaced, let me know which ones. Finally, you may choose to take the opportunity to also submit a bio of yourself to be included on the web page along with your images, but this is optional, of course.

Submit your images to Mark Reed via email. As always, if you have any questions or concerns please email me.

NOTE: Images on this site are best viewed with your monitor set to a color depth of "High Color" (16-bit) or better for Windows, or "Thousands of colors" or better for Macintosh.
