Bill Lindsey
As a boy, Bill lived in a small town in West Virginia and loved science and art. He would attend lectures at the local library and listen with great interest to lectures about atomic energy and the mysteries of chemistry. After moving to California at age ten, he studied photography under a mentor who lived nearby and was bitten by the photobug, and from then on he was a photographic aficionado. Bill was involved in photography all through school and majored in Fine Arts. He served in the Air Force as the Base Photographer in Dover and two years at Chateauroux Air Base in France.
After discharge from the Air Force, Bill moved back to California and worked for the University of California at San Diego as the director of photography at the University of California based at La Jolla in the Applied Oceanography Group.
A move to the East Coast resulted in a job at a major medical center near Philadelphia where Bill was director of medical photography. This was a proving ground for photographic disciplines, documenting surgical procedures and providing support for physicians in a teaching environment.
Computers began to show their use as Bill began to learn about Photoshop and what a valuable tool he had to work with. This began a whole new facet of photography and turned almost everything he had learned upside down. At this point he realized he had to come to terms with the technology that was available and began to study everything he could about Photoshop and how it could change the way photography was used with it.
Bill admits to being driven and obsessed with his work as an artist. Photography is a conscious effort.. with passion, inspiration, desire, and dedication. It's not that difficult to be passionate about something if you believe in it.
In Lindsey’s Studio in Wilmington, Bill specializes in executive portraits, weddings and product shots. He is a member of the Delaware Professional Photographers, Wedding and Portrait Photographers International, and he has won numerous awards of distinction in advertising photography.
