President's Message
Bob Coffey
This promises to be a year of change for The Delaware Photographic Society. After
many years of conducting our meetings at the Academy of Medicine and one
year at the A. I. DuPont Middle School, plus Instruction Night sessions
at Concord Library, we have found a new home, The First Unitarian Church.
We have signed an agreement for this coming year as a trial period, and,
if all goes as expected, we should be able to extend our contract in the
future. It provides a very nice meeting room, plenty of parking space,
handicap accessibility, a full kitchen as well as a kitchenette, and equipment
storage all in a well lighted, safe location.
For the first time we will
be able to conduct all of our Club activities in one facility.
In competitions, there will be an additional award for the most innovative
slide and a new "Creative Abstract" print category where anything
goes.
We will celebrate our Club's
70th birthday at the pot luck supper and will end the year with a pizza
party or some other appealing departure from our formal annual awards
banquet. Karl Leck has scheduled an informative array of programs for
Instruction Night and Bill Lindsey has lined up some outstanding presentations
for Speaker Night. Ray Magnani will shepherd the Mentor Program for new
members. Finally, Valentina Donor and Marj Whitmore have lined up some
great field trips and tours.
