Portrait Of ...
I discovered my interest in photography when I joined the Boy Scouts and started carrying a camera on camping trips. First, it was an old Brownie twin lens and then a 126 Instamatic.
One of my biggest interests has always been auto racing. You can imagine the difficulty of trying to shoot pictures of moving racecars with an Instamatic (it can be done). In 1973, I purchased my first 35mm camera, a Minolta SRT-101. Before long, I was well known at the Western Pennsylvania speedways. My break came when I met a reporter from a racing trade paper and was soon a contributing photographer. Since then my work has appeared in numerous automotive magazines and racing papers as well as newspapers, advertisements, and track programs. Other subjects that I enjoy photographing include old buildings, hot air balloons, and local scenery. I like to find ways to incorporate photography into all of my hobbies and outside activities. I enjoy shooting close subjects and trying to bring out the details that sometimes get overlooked. I think my favorite type of photography is photojournalism and making the picture tell a story. I joined The Delaware Photographic Society about 6 years ago and have participated in and worked at the WIEP for the past several years. |
